Congratulations for being a preliminary winner and this is your
invitation to our 2008 “Down By The Sea” All Star Kids National Pageant.
I will be sending additional information and a hotel brochure with a map
later. Please note deadlines for forms, photographs and ads will be June
1st. Please send in ads as you sell them.
PHOTO ROSTER: Every contestant’s photo must appear in our
souvenir Program Book and each contestant is to submit a black and white
(preferably, as color loses its quality in printing) wallet size head
and shoulder shot. On the back of the photo, indicate contestants name,
hometown and age group you are competing in. The photo must accompany
your forms under the same deadline as the entry form June 1st. If a
color photo is submitted, a color transfer fee will be required. If the
photo submitted is larger than a wallet size, a reduction fee will be
required.
PHOTOGENIC: The photogenic division is a meaningful and important
part of the competition. It was designed to give recognition to those
with special photogenic qualities and creativity. Participants will
furnish their own 3 ½ X 5 black and white photograph for printing in the
photogenic section of the program book. Judging will be done from the
actual photograph so you may be required to pay the reduction and/or
color transfer fee if you send a larger than 3 ½ X 5 or if you send a
color photo. One photogenic winner will be chosen in each age division –
in both Babe and Beau. Photographs will be judged by qualified print and
media agencies. Optional: You may elect to increase your Half-Page
Photogenic to a Full-Page Photogenic – then the entire 8 X 10 photograph
will be printed. You would only have to pay for the increase in
half-page to full-page photogenic and a color transfer fee if you send
only a color 8 X 10 photo. The photograph must accompany your forms
under the same deadline June 1st.
ALL STAR BABE OR BEAU: Each child will be judged on overall
personality, grooming and projection. You should dress your child in
Sunday Best/Formal Wear and this may be as dressy as you wish. But
remember the judges are judging the child. There will one Babe winner
(girl’s title) and one Beau winner (boy’s title) per age division plus
alternates.
BEAUTIFUL BABE/HANDSOME BEAU: You will receive an official All
Star T-Shirt (Color: Teal) at registration. This T-shirt will be worn
with a pair of white shorts you have brought with you for your close-up
with the judges. We are doing this in order for the judges to see each
child equally and be judged solely on facial features. The judges will
also give a personality score at this time. There will be one Beautiful
Babe and one Handsome Beau selected per age division.
BEST TEAM PRESENTATION: We suggest that the chaperone dress to
compliment the child at all times. During the on-stage All Star
Babe/Beau presentation, the judges will score best team presentation on
the basis of how the child and chaperone work together (this is not a
look alike – dress alike competition). One winner will be selected from
the Babe and one winner from the Beau per age division.
PLAYWEAR: The child will be judged on their garment presentation
and interpretation of Playwear. This may be dressy or casual and props
may be used. Boys and girls compete separately during this competition.
One winner will be selected for the Babe and one winner for the Beau per
age division.
SPECIAL EVENT: This year we have chosen “Down By The Sea” to be
our special event theme. You may choose to depict anything that has to
do with the sea or the beach, such as beachwear, a fictional character
like Little Mermaid or Sponge Bob or even a lobster. The most important
thing is to be creative. You may also use props as long as they are
small enough to be carried. Boys and Girls compete separately. One
winner will be selected for the Babe and one for the Beau per age
division.
PORTFOLIO: To enter, please bring your portfolio (collection of
photographs), not to exceed 10 photographs, with you to the pageant to
be turned in at registration. Photographs need to be displayed in a
photo book. Photographs may be any size up to 8 X 10, color or black and
white, with name and age division labeled on portfolio.
OVERALL HIGH POINT BABY: Scores from all seven categories
(Babe/Beau, Beautiful Babe/Handsome Beau, Best Team Presentation,
Portfolio, Playwear, Photogenic and Special Event) are considered for
OVERALL. The lowest score will be dropped and the highest 6 scores give
us your OVERALL BABY. No Optional Competition scores will be added into
Overall Baby.
BABY TALENT: This presentation may be any performance you deem to
be a talent such as a song, dance, poem, etc, not to exceed 2 minutes.
Boys and girls compete equally. All performance music must be the only
music on the tape/CD, cued and labeled. Judging will be based on talent
ability, difficulty, appearance and showmanship. Talent props may be
used. Talent tapes are to be brought to competition and picked up after
talent presentation. One winner will be selected per age division. We
will select an Overall Talent Winner who will represent All Star on the
National Level.
CHAPERONE PASS: A chaperone pass is required and the chaperone
must wear this pass during all events. This pass will be given to you
during registration.
ADULT STAR BEAUTY: This competition is for the moms, grandmas,
sisters, etc. and will be judged on personality, grooming and
presentation. You may select Sunday Best, evening gowns, etc. to be worn
during this presentation. One winner for ages 0-47 months. One winner
for 4-18 years. A special award for this winner!
ADULT STAR BEAU: This competition is for the dads, granddads,
brothers, etc. and will be judged on personality, grooming and
presentation. You may select Sunday Best, tuxedos, etc. to be worn
during this presentation. One winner for ages 0-47 months. One winner
for 4-18 years. A special award for this winner!
MOM OF THE YEAR: We want all of your Moms to take part in this
competition. In 200 words or less, tell “My Dreams for My Child's
Future” and of course everyone can to do this. The winner will receive
an award and monogrammed “ALL STAR MOM OF THE YEAR” banner. Deadline
will be June 1st.
BEST FORMAL WEAR: To be judged during preliminary Babe/Beau
competition. One winner per age division.
FUND RAISING IDEAS: We are enclosing a sheet of suggestions for
different fund-raisers and these ideas have been tested and tried to be
successful. As an added bonus, for each person that you can get to enter
All Star Nationals (that has not already received our information), you
will receive a $35 credit off your entry fees. Please call our office if
you need forms mailed.

Ideas & Forms!
SPONSORS: You may obtain sponsors to cover the expense of the
cost of the pageant fees. Sponsors may be any type of business,
relatives, friends, etc. This gives the sponsors advertising while
supporting their favorite contestant and this is also a tax deduction to
them. We suggest that you dress yourself and your child appropriately
and make an appropriate call on those businesses that you feel would
support this program such as banks, car dealers, doctors, lawyers,
dentists, insurance companies, real estate businesses, etc. We are
enclosing a sample of advertisement that you might show to prospective
sponsors showing how they will be listed in the program book on your
child’s photogenic picture or samples of sizes of ads and costs. The
total amount of advertising sold will be applied to your entry fees. We
are also enclosing an Endorsement Form for friends, family, etc. to sign
and these names will be printed in the community support section. If you
would like a Program Book to show potential sponsors what their ads will
be printed in, please call our office.
COVER BABY: You may submit an additional photograph for this
competition. This photograph may be color and up to an 8 X 10. The print
and media judges will select the photograph that will be printed on the
inside front or back cover of our Program Book, and the winner will
receive an award and title “Cover Baby”. Please label this photo as
“Cover Baby”. Deadline is June 1st.
'DOWN BY THE SEA" PARTY: Announced when finalized – but you will
enjoy!
"DOWN BY THE SEA" DISCO DANCE: Put your dancing shoes on and do
the latest disco or two-step to the hits selected by our star DJ. This
will be a good way to dance with all those friends you have met during
the competition. Chaperones, dust off your dancin’ shoes too.
HOTEL RESERVATIONS: All contestants and chaperones are encouraged
to be registered at the Hotel (unless other arrangements with our office
have been made). We feel that the pageant is much more enjoyable with
the convenience to go upstairs to your room when you are not competing
and the comfort of dressing in your own room. Also, the traffic and
summer heat is unavoidable. Please make sure you note on the tentative
schedule the times you are required to be in the staging area. Room
reservations will be made in your child’s name and check-in time is 3:00
p.m. Friday and check-out time is Noon on Sunday. You may wish to make
additional reservations for other family members or guests and these
reservations must be made through our office, in order for you to
receive the special rate that the Hotel has given All Star Kids. You may
make last minute reservations for family and friends up until the week
of the pageant, providing room as available. REMEMBER – Please send in
your deposit TODAY to guarantee your room reservations.
JUDGING: The judging at the ALL STAR KIDS NATIONAL PAGEANT will
be of the highest quality with the judge panel using a point and
consultation system. JUDGES DECISIONS ARE FINAL. There will be a
separate panel of judges for Babe/Beau, Playwear, Special Event ,
Photogenic and Portfolio.
