Congratulations for being a preliminary winner and this is your
invitation to our 2008 “Down By The Sea” All Star Kids National Pageant.
I will be sending additional information and a hotel brochure with a map
later. Please note deadlines for forms, photographs and ads will be June
1st. Please send in ads as you sell them.
PHOTO ROSTER: Every contestant’s photo must appear in our
souvenir Program Book. Each contestant is to submit a black and white
preferably (as color loses it quality in printing) wallet size head and
shoulder shot. On the back of the photo, please indicate the contestants
name, hometown and age group you are competing. A reduction/enlargement
fee will be required if the photo is not wallet size. A color transfer
fee will be required if a color photo is submitted. The photo must
accompany your forms under the same deadline as the entry form June 1st.
PHOTOGENIC: The photogenic division is an important and
meaningful part of the competition. It was designed to give recognition
to those with special photogenic qualities and creativity. One
Photogenic Winner will be selected in each of the 5 age divisions –
Beauty and Beau. In the photogenic category, participants will furnish
their own 3 ½ X 5 black and white photograph for printing in the
photogenic section of the program book. Judging will be done from the
actual photograph, so you may want to send an additional 8 X 10 black
and white or color for the actual judging. If you ONLY submit an 8 X 10
photo, you will be required to pay a reduction and/or color transfer
fee. (OPTIONAL: If you elect to have a Full Page Photogenic printed in
the photogenic section, you may submit an 8 X 10 Black and White
Photograph for printing the Program Book and an 8 X 10 color for the
actual judging. If you only submit an 8 X 10 color photo for the Full
Page Photogenic, you must pay the transfer fee). On the back of each
photo, please label with contestants name, hometown and age division you
are competing in. The photo must accompany your forms under the same
deadline June 1st as the entry form. Photographs will be judged by
qualified print and media agencies.
ALL STAR BEAUTY: Each girl will be judged on Casual Wear
presentation, Group Interview, and Formal Wear. Each category will be
judged on a 1-10 point system. For 13 years and above tea-length or long
formals are recommended. Under the age of 13, you have your choice of
long or short dress. The Group Interview will be done in your official
“Down By The Sea” All Star T-Shirt (Color: Teal), which you will wear
with your choice of white shorts, skirt, or jeans. Nothing may be added
to the T-Shirt itself, but accessories may be added at your discretion.
Casual Wear may be school wear, everyday wear, action wear, fun wear,
etc. This may be as casual or dressy as you wish. During the Group
Interview, the judges will be selecting a Prettiest and a Best Interview
Winner (one per age division). One Beauty Winner will be selected from
each of the age divisions plus alternates.

presentation, Group Interview, and Formal Wear. Each category will be
judged on a 1-10 point system. The Group Interview will be done in your

our choice of white shorts or white pants to interview. During the
interview, the judges will be selecting a Handsome and a Best Interview
Winner. Casual Wear may be school wear, athletic wear, everyday wear,
etc. One winner will be selected per age division plus alternates.
MODEL OF THE DAY: This will be judged and selected during the
on-stage presentation of Casual Wear and Formal Wear. This will be
judged solely on your ability of presenting yourself and your garments.
One winner will be selected per age division for both Beauty and Beau.
SPECIAL EVENT: This year we have chosen “Down By The Sea” to be
our special event theme. You may choose to depict anything that has to
do with the sea or the beach, such as beachwear (please keep attire
appropriate), a fictional character like a Mermaid, Captain Hook or even
a character from Pirates of the Caribbean. The most important thing is
to be creative. You may also use props as long as they are small enough
to be carried. Boys and Girls compete separately. One winner will be
selected per age division.
TALENT: Boys and Girls compete equally in a talent presentation
of their choosing. Talent presentation is not to exceed 3 minutes. All
performance music must be the only music on the tape/CD, cued and
labeled. Judging will be based on talent ability, difficulty, appearance
and showmanship. Talent props may be used. Talent tapes must be turned
in at registration and picked up after Talent finals. One winner will be
selected per age division plus alternates.
PORTFOLIO: To enter, please bring your portfolio (collection of
photographs), not to exceed 10 photographs, with you to the pageant to

As an added bonus, for each person that you can get to enter
All Star Nationals (that has not already received our information), you
will receive a $35 credit off your entry fees. Please call our office if
you need forms mailed.
SPONSORS: You may obtain sponsors to cover the expense of the
cost of the pageant fees. Sponsors may be any type of business,
relatives, friends, etc. This gives the sponsors advertising while
supporting their favorite contestant and this is also a tax deduction to
them. We suggest that you dress yourself and your child appropriately
and make an appropriate call on those businesses that you feel would
support this program such as banks, car dealers, doctors, lawyers,
dentists, insurance companies, real estate businesses, etc. We are
enclosing a sample of advertisement that you might show to prospective
sponsors showing how they will be listed in the program book on your
child’s photogenic picture or samples of sizes of ads and costs. The
total amount of advertising sold will be applied to your entry fees. We
are also enclosing an Endorsement Form for friends, family, etc. to sign
and these names will be printed in the community support section. If you
would like a Program Book to show potential sponsors what their ads will
be printed in, please call our office.
"DOWN BY THE SEA” BANQUET: This will be a set down meal where you
can dress as elegant as you wish. Our current reigning Beauty, Beau,
Talent and Overall Winners will be recognized. This is a chance for the
entire family to have a great time together, including getting all
dressed up if you desire.
"DOWN BY THE SEA” PARTY: The details of this party will be
announced when finalized. But you will enjoy it.
"DOWN BY THE SEA” DISCO DANCE: Put your dancing shoes (boots) on
and do the latest disco or two-step to the hits selected by our Star DJ.
This will be a good way to dance with all those friends you have met
during the competition. Chaperones, dust off your dancin’ shoes too.
MOM OF THE YEAR: We want all you Moms to take part in this
competition. In 200 words or less, tell us "What I Tell My Child If They
Do Not Win” and of course everyone can to do this. The winner will
receive an award and monogrammed “All Star Mom of the Year” banner.
Remember deadline is June 1st.
TICKETS: All persons – excluding contestants and chaperones –
attending the competition will be required to purchase tickets for every
competition. Ticket Passes are available for relatives and guests of the
participants and may be pre-ordered on the entry form. These ticket
passes will allow “Come and Go” admittance to all competition. You may
also purchase extra party, dance and banquet tickets.
HOTEL RESERVATIONS: All contestants and chaperones are encouraged
to be registered at the Hotel (unless other arrangements with our office
have been made). We feel that the pageant is much more enjoyable with
the convenience to go upstairs to your room when you are not competing
and the comfort of dressing in your own room. Also, the traffic and
summer heat is unavoidable. Please make sure you note on the tentative
schedule the times you are required to be in the staging area. Room
reservations will be made in your child’s name and check-in is 3:00 p.m.
Thursday and check-out time is Noon on Sunday. You may wish to make
additional reservations for other family members or guests and these
reservations must be made through our office, in order for you to
receive the special rate that the Hotel has given All Star Kids. You may
make last minute reservations for family and friends up until the week
of the pageant, providing rooms are available. Please send in your
Deposit Form today to guarantee your room reservations.
