SPONSORSHIP AND FUND RAISING SUGGESTIONS
1. SPONSORSHIP – First, your parents can sponsor your entire entry fee or
they may secure help from grandparents, family, friends, co-workers,
etc. Secondly, you may obtain business sponsors. It would be best to
meet them in person. Dress neatly; read all of your information so you
will know the answers to any questions they might ask and be prepared to
explain the benefits you expect to receive from participating in the
Pageant. The rewards we would expect you to mention would be the Cash
Prizes, recognition of your accomplishment and confidence you will feel
about yourself for being a part of this competition. Sponsors that we
would suggest you calling on would include your dentist, your doctor,
business clubs (Lions, Kiwanis, Rotary, etc.) dress shops, beauty shops,
restaurants, banks, real estate, your insurance agent and car dealers,
as these are more than willing to support kids who are working towards
becoming responsible for themselves.
We are enclosing a sponsorship letter that you might carry with you to
present to each perspective sponsor or some will make this a personal
letter and have copies made and mail them to all the businesses in their
area. Then you may call the businesses after a few days to see if they
have received the letter and ask if you can count on them to be a
sponsor. DON’T FOREGET TO WRITE A PERSONAL THANK YOU LETTER TO EACH
SPONSOR – REGARDLESS OF THE SPONSORSHIP AMOUNT.
Your advantage for sponsorship with the businesses is that not only will
they be sponsoring you at All Star National Pageant but they also will
be advertised in the Program Book. Their sponsorship of you is tax
deductible because they are purchasing advertising.
We have enclosed a sheet showing advertising and the costs. You might
want to show each prospective sponsor this sheet or mail the letter. You
receive the entire amount from advertising sales applied to your entry
fee. We do not charge for printing.
2. ENDORSEMENT FORM – We suggest that you make as many copies of this
form as you like. Pass this form to family and friends and ask them to
help you get endorsements. These endorsements will be printed in the
Program Book under your name as community supporters. They may
contribute as much as they like for endorsing you but we suggest a $10
contribution.

3. CAR WASH – Get a group of your friends together and do a car wash one
day. Have a local business, parking lot or church allow you to use their
facility to host your car wash. Do signs advertising this event and have
your friends pitch in and help with the effort.
4. BOWL-A-THON: Get a group of your friends together and contact family,
friends, and businesses to pledge a certain amount for each pin that you
bowl over. Have your local Bowling Alley donate the time for
advertisement in the program book. This is a lot of fun and very
profitable if you get enough friends involved.
5. GARAGE AND/OR BAKE SALE: Once again, get friends, family and
neighbors to help you with a garage sale and/or bake sale. Several do
this at the same time and have sandwiches, drinks, etc. while they are
doing the garage sale.
6. GOLF CADDY – Contact your local country club or golf range and see if
they will consider letting you and/or your friends be a caddy for a
weekend. Always explain why you are doing this.
7. BUSINESS WINDOW WASH – Contact your local businesses and see if you
can wash their windows for their contribution. Maybe even your
neighbors, etc. would want theirs done.
8. YARD RAKING – This is the time of the year that a lot of senior
citizens, etc. need their yard raked due to cold weather and falling
leaves, or in the spring, mowing yards is a great way to earn money.
9. Have your hometown newspaper run a press release regarding you being
selected as a finalist in the pageant and the fact that you are asking
for community support and business sponsorship.
10. ICE CREAM/PEACHES OR APPLES/CARMEL DIP – Secure a space (local flea
markets or possibly a table set up at Wal Mart or local grocery store).
Sell a bowl of ice cream with peaches or other choice toppings. This was
done before at $2.00 a bowl and a considerable amount was made from this
project. Also, a bowl of freshly sliced apples with caramel dip is a
great seller. This would also be a great seller at local soccer games,
etc.
11. CARNIVAL – Several Moms joined together to produce a neighborhood
carnival and made great profits from it. They did the Go Fishing, Hit
the Golf Ball in the Hole, Wheel of Fortune, Pin the Tail, Burst the
Balloon, etc.
12. REFERRALS – If you refer another participant that enters the pageant
(possibly in another age division) you will receive $35 Credit from your
entry fee. To the new recruits, we will issue them a later deadline. Be
sure and let us know who you are referring.
