ALL STAR KIDS UNDERSTANDS AND AGREES THAT MAKEUP, OUTFITS AND MODELING ARE
ALL A PART OF THE PAGEANTRY AND THEY SHOULD BE CAREFULLY BALANCED SO
THAT NONE OF THESE ITEMS OVERSHADOW THE NATURAL EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR
BEAUTY OF THE CHILD.
Best Sunday/Formal Wear: Select a dress that is suitable for your
child based on color, fit and overall style. Contestants may choose to
embellish their dress or not. Any amount of rhinestones, sequins, lace
and crystal are acceptable.
Length: 4-6 Years – Short; 7-9 Years – Short, Tea or Floor; 10 and up –
Tea or Floor.
Make-up: Although makeup is applied at the parent’s discretion,
we suggest the following:
Babies: Very Little to None. Simple lip gloss, a touch of blush
and maybe a touch of mascara will do just fine under the stage lights.
4 and Up: Age appropriate, remember these are children. Use makeup to
bring out features and correct coloring under stage lights. Makeup is to
have color but allow your child to look like a child, not a child who
looks like an adult. Don’t overdo eye shadows and lipstick.
Modeling (4 Years and Up): We recommend Miss America modeling for
Sunday Best/Formal Wear and free style modeling to show off the Casual
Wear and the contestant’s ability to sell the outfit and themselves to
the judges. Judges are looking for someone who is smooth and natural. We
all enjoy a good routine as long as it is done in good taste and
reasonable timing. Have your child smile and show confidence in the
routine.
Sportsmanship: There is always going to be someone who doesn’t
win and sometimes it is you! Keep this in mind:
1) There is a Pageant for everyone…
2) Quitters and Bad Attitudes will never win…
3) Everyone has bad days…
4) Persistence and Dedication make winners…
5) Poise and Confidence are the Key to the Crown…
6) Practice your Smile for the next Pageant…and
7) DON’T GIVE UP! YOU WILL LEARN FROM EVERY EXPERIENCE.
